Panic Situations
Alright, so I realized something while playing against my friend Shay today. Often times when in the lead, people tend to play a lot differently. They are scared a lot more than they should be. An inexperienced player will rush back to the stage when knocked off at 30% out of fear that his opponent at 140% will gimp them. This makes your options extrememly predictable. Your opponent essentially only needs to cover 2-3 options that make for the fastest recovery. This is the same thinking for landing as well. When at lower percents, we don't want to take the damage from a combo and panic air dodge so that our opponent will not catch up. This then leads to situations for our opponent to extend the combo far past what they would have originally been able to do and, in the case of characters like Mario and ZSS, could cost us the stock. It is important that when playing from an advantage state, to mantain composure and just keep playing your game. Of course your opponent will try to go for gimps more because the reward seems much greater. Don't get nervous, and punish overextensions accordingly. There is a reason why you are in the lead to begin with.
