Wi-fi Warrior Rank v2: Area 51

Cloudhead - November 26, 2018

In any competition, there are players who just barely miss out on the main stage; however, this doesn't mean they're not incredibly skilled. In the Wi-fi Warrior Rank v2, the players ranked 51-55 were extremely close to the top 50. In terms of percentage of the maximum score, all five were within 1% of 50th place - a single tournament or win could make the difference. So without further ado, we'd like to present these honorable mentions as the WWRv2's Area 51!

Note that these players are only ordered alphabetically, and each one is considered ranked 51st. This is both due to the closeness of their scores, and to the precedent that rankings like the PGR have set. Okay, NOW without further ado, enjoy!

AGenericName

The Smashing Legends series is home to many dangerous Bayonetta players; not the least of which is AGenericName, whose humble tag hides a powerful player. Emerging toward the season’s end, he reached a peak at Smashing Legends 93, winning the tournament over the likes of Chusam, Sharp, and Zenkai. His name might not be particularly exciting, but his play is a different story, and so are the results it gets him.

Beastly

Everything’s bigger in Texas, and Beastly’s list of accolades is no exception. A rising star from DFW, he broke onto the scene with an outstanding weekend at Eclipse, taking 1st, 2nd, and 4th at consecutive events. He took sets from RobinGG, Chusam, and Blank between the three, creating the foundation for a strong season. As we move into Ultimate, the only guarantee is that Beastly will continue to be a thing of beauty.

ChrisBCream

Whether it’s with Bayo or Lucina, ChrisBCream knows how to score sweet victory. He capped off the year by placing 17th at One More Game, with TVSeries top 8s sprinked throughout the season. His stat list was glazed in strong wins, including ones over Blank, Sharp, and Soki. Donut underestimate Chris in bracket, now or in the future - when Ultimate comes out, we suspect he’ll be back at it again.

SlingShot

SlingShot shoots into the HM list thanks to not only a solid season, but a well-traveled one. He hit the top 8 at tournaments in Eclipse, Smashing Legends, Sunday Smash Attack, and Dragonborn over the course of the season; and defeated Chemdev, Zaxel, and Zenkai, among other known top players. One of the more consistent players in the community, always watch for this Diddy to deliver in bracket.

TheMightyDialga

It can be hard to fit wifi tournaments into your schedule, but TheMightyDialga makes time. The Bayonetta main racked up top 8 placings across several series, including 5th place at B-tier TLT 5, and 4th and 7th at C-tiers Smash Bash 92 and Smash Station 96. His wins on Chusam, Rax, Le Elinndur, and Zenkai, all in the top half of the last WWR, prove his ability to hang with the best. Take time to watch TMD’s results, and you’ll see roaring successes time and time again.

We'd like to congratulate our Area 51 on great seasons all around, and wish each of them the best going forward into Ultimate!
