Central Coast Smash #1

Jazara - May 1, 2017

Hey guys, it's Jazara! I'm a Sheik player from the Central Coast of California. I'm currently ranked #4 in my city and the Central Coast's PR hasn't come out yet so I don't have a rank on there. This blog is going to be me talking about the Central Coast scene, which is a young scene with some good up and coming players that could do well outside of the region.  And in this post specifically I'm going to make, what I think, will be the top 15 for the first season of the Central Coast PR.

The Central Coast scene was unified about a month or so, before that we were 3 main, seperate, 'regions' (San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and Santa Barbara) which are just different cities. We all knew about each other, but we didn't have a unified PR, so PR was based city to city. The #1 player was kind of a toss up before Jtails moved here, now it's obvious who number one is. With the unity of the 3 areas to make the Central Coast as one region, there's one big question; what will the PR be? Obviously there's biased between people but I'm going to let you guys know who I think the top 15 will be (based off some results/skill)

Not sure if people can comment and stuff on the blog, but if you guys can let me know what you want me to talk about, I can give history, tell stories, make a blog about a certain player, or anything else :)
(btw if someone from the central coast reads this don't get butt hurt if you're not on here)

#1 - Jtails (Diddy Kong)
From Slo, this one of very self explanatory, Jtails is the most dominate player in the region, he wins every PTSD (our huge regional tournament) and every other tournament he enters. He has a positive record vs everyone in our region and beats PR from other regions whenever they try to invade

#2 - Ant (Villager)
Coming from SB, Ant is a special case. He doesn't come out that much, but when he does he does quite well. With a 3rd at PTSD 8, 5th at an MSM, and 1st a MuM IV, and some other notable placements. While he does have some consistency and mindset issues, I feel like he's the 2nd best player in the region.

#3 - Coasty (Diddy Kong)
Coasty is from SLO, and he's the 2nd strongest player there, behind Jtails. Coasty is extremely consistent, rarely losing to anyone ranked lower than him. He has wins against many of the best players from the other cities and a win on Vermillion. And with a recent placing of 4th at PTSD 9, the most stacked one yet, he could possibly rise to #2 in the up coming future.

#4 - ELDON (Mario)
ELDON is from Santa Maria, where I'm personally from. ELDON is extremely, let me say this again, EXTREMELY consistent in Santa Maria, he rarely drops sets, and even games, in tournament to the other Santa Maria players besides Wizard, PsydB, and occasioanlly myself (Jazara). Out of region he still gets good wins but doesn't see the same kind of results.

#5 - Wizard (Mewtwo)
Our second Santa Maria player on this list,  Wizard is a force to be reckoned with. He's extrememly consisnent out of region, with Multiple top 4 performances at PTSD and good wins all around. The only thing keeping him from being higher is that sometimes he gets in his own head and stops trying.

#6 - PsydB (Villager)
Our 3rd Santa Maria player in a row, PsydB is an extremely strong force out of SM. With wins over Vermillion and SuperSega and taking Jtails to game 5, PsydB is no one to mess with. He's also extremely consistent, playing Top 5 at 3/4 of the last PTSD's.

#7 - Spiderivas (Mario)
Spiderivas is our 3rd SLO player on this list, while he might not always do the best at PTSD's, he always does very well out of region. With a 2nd place at BDSM #1 (Beats ELDON, PsydB, and Wizard) he shows that he is a strong player and can beat players ranked about him

#8 - AV (Cloud)
AV is our second SB player on this list. AV is extrememly dominate in his own region, winning just about everything and having an even or positive record vs just about everyone. While he does have some good out of region results, he doesn't hold the same consistency that he does in his own region. I can see AV moving up in this list, but he needs to show some more out of SB results

#9 - Jazara (Sheik)
To round out the Santa Maria players, we have myself, Jazara. I'm undoubtable the #4 player in SM, getting 3rd/4th at just about every SM tournament. I also have consistent out of region results. I have high highs but my lows aren't that low. I haven't placed below 13th for the past 4 PTSD's, 2 of which I top 8'd. I could see myself moving up more, I have wins over AV, Coasty, PsydB, Wizard, and I've taken games from Jtails

#10 - LittleWolf (Bayonetta)
LittleWolf is a very consistent player as of recently. Althrough he's only ranked #9 in SLO, he's going to be ranked highly on this PR.
With a 9th at PTSD 9 and a top 8 finish at BDSM #1 he boasts some good wins and not bad loses.

#11 - Isiah (Robin)
Not seen outside of his own city much, SB's own Isiah is a very skill player with many characters. One of the only times he did show up was during a PTSD where he placed 7th, and I believe 25th another time. And when he goes to tournaments in SB he also places well, he doesn't lose to anyone below him much.

#12 - oaT (Fox)
oaT is a very strong player from SB, the one thing holding him back from making top 10 is his mindset. He gets tilted quite easily and has down days, but don't we all? With a dissapointing 1-2 in pools at PTSD 9, he has some other great results and wins, a lot of which come from Mixup Mondays. He has a winning record vs PsydB, recently at least, has beaten AV, myself, Nachos, Echoes, and more.

#13 - Peon (Falcon)
Peon is Captain Falcon player from SB, he has pretty good results in his own region, but doesn't always get the same out of region. Getting 33rd at PTSD 9 and not doing too hot at the one he went to before, he's not too hot on PTSD placements, but in/around his own city he doesn't amazing, consistent top 8 or better finishes, he's for sure a dominate force in his own region

#14 - Tempest (Sonic)
Tempest is a Sonic player from SLO, and he overall does the best out of all the other SLO players around his level do against higher level players. He's taken games from Zan and KY, and almost made Top 8 and CenCal Standoff. He has some interesting loses but for the most part he does well vs everyone about him

#15 - Dandersen (Sheik)
Brawl?? Dandersen is gonna be the final player on this list. He's a Sheik player from SLO and he's a very interesting case. He's an EXTREMELY good Sheik player, but he doesn't know how to deal with certain characters (like DK and Ryu) which leave him getting bad loses in Bracket. He took a break for a while and came back, but drowned in Pools and PTSD 9 and got double eliminated by SLEP, a Samus, in res bracket. Besides this, he's a very very skilled player and he could move up as high as Spiderivas if he takes the game very seriously and learns his couple of bad MU's

Runner-ups/Notable others :
NoobMaster (Mario) : SM
RAM (Yoshi) : AG
Mr. T (Marth) : SM
Nachos (Kirby) : SB
Mannykins (Ryu) : SB
Suspicions (Luigi) : SLO
Dr. C (Yoshi) : SLO

I plan on doing a History of the scene post next, after that though I can do Central Coast tournament recaps/predictions, player profiles, funny stories about the community, interviews, or anything else you guys suggest. Thank you all for reading, I hope you liked my predictions and learned a bit about all the players
